Improper Filter Operation
........\\\///........
SLOW COMPONENT OPERATION
  Possible Causes   Remedy
1) Restricted return filter. 1) Check for bypass of element. Replace element.
2) Improper size element. 2) Replace element with proper size.
3) Restricted suction filter. 3) Replace or clean filter element.
4) Restricted pressure. Check for high differential across filter. 4) Replace element.

........\\\///........
PUMP MAKES EXCESSIVE NOISE
  Possible Causes   Remedy
1) Restricted suction filter causing cavitation. 1) Replace or clean element.
2) Loose filter housing cover causing air to be drawn into pump. 2) Tighten mounting bolts on cover. Replace worn cover gasket.
3) Low fluid level causing aeration. 3) Refill to proper level with clean fluid.

........\\\///........
FLUID CONTAINS CONTAMINATION
  Possible Causes   Remedy
1) Improper type of filter element. 1) Install a filter element that has the correct micron rating for the application.
2) Plugged element. 2) Clean or replace element.
3) Filter change interval too long. 3) Decrease the time between filter change periods. Add bypass indicators to filters.
4) Pressure differential too high. 4) Replace element with a high pressure element and housing.
5) Ruptured element. 5) See below:

a) Stuck bypass.
b) Improper element.
c) High pressure surging.

a) Repair or replace bypass.
b) Replace element with proper pressure rated element.
c) Eliminate cause of high pressure surging
6) No element installed. 6) Install proper element.

........\\\///........
BYPASS INDICATOR ALWAYS READS "BYPASS"
  Possible Causes   Remedy
1) Fluid viscosity too high. 1) Change fluid with fluid of the recommended fluid viscosity.
2) Broken spring or weak spring. 2) Remove and replace bypass spring.
3) Plugged element. 3) Replace or clean element
