Case Study 1 and 2 :    Case Study - 1    One of the major manufacturing units in India needed suitable oil for heavy duty tapping operations. They were using different metal working fluids in a hit and miss method and they found that the oil mixed with swarf was clogging the filters. They on their own cut back the viscosity of the oil with Kerosene and this eliminated clogging problems. However, this operation also suffered as the oil did not have any E.P additives and the tool life was reduced by 50%. A well-formulated oil of low viscosity, sufficiently doped with E.P. Additives solved the problem, on our advice.    Case Study - 2    One of the major power plant units in the country operating gas turbines had been using , ordinary hydraulic oil supplied by an oil company on price advantage basis. When GTS representative visited them, this fact came to light during the discussions and he advised them about the seriousness of the mistake they had committed. The initial oil fill was 20,000 liters and to protect the interest of the persons responsible for the purchases, the consultant’s advice was not revealed. Finally the turbines failed in operation necessitating major repairs involving million of dollars. They have now realized the importance of advice offered by Global Technical Services.
